The MASACares Fund
Out of the Darkness 2015 | MASACares Community Service Initiative
What is MASACares?
We kickstarted the MASACares program in January 2015 as a community service initiative in which students, staff, and supporters of Masacote (the MASATribe) would volunteer as a group to contribute to a different cause each month.
The MASATribe voted on activities, which were peer-led by rotating members. Through these efforts, MASACares has supported campaigns such as the Out of the Darkness walk (featured video), which raised awareness and funds for suicide prevention and depression, and the Walk for Change to support the Boston Area Rape Crisis Center.
Today, MASACares has evolved to be the centralizing entity that funds all Masacote philanthropic initiatives. Currently, MASACares funds our Masacote Retreat and School Scholarships and Youth Mini-Grants. Our latest initiative pilots a creative way of helping youth development organizations find grant funding opportunities by working with their Youth Interns.
MASACares was made possible in part through the fiscal sponsorship under the Boston Dance Alliance, the Cultural Capital Fund (Cambridge Community Foundation), and the generous support of our patrons, in-kind sponsors, and community. Thank you to all our supporters and contributors!
